The Rhode Island Network for Excellence in Science & Technology (RI-NEST), funded through the U.S. National Science Foundation, offers a critical platform for building the state’s research ecosystem and connecting all those in academia, industry, and community to develop use-inspired, transdisciplinary research that serves all Rhode Islanders.
On Friday, October 30, 8am-4:45pm at the Rhode Island School of Design, RI-NEST will convene faculty, students, and others across the state supporting research in STEM fields to engage in:
- Interactive sessions on how to obtain continued investment, specifically from the U.S. National Science Foundation, in research and STEM-related activities for institutions and organizations across the state, as well as coordinate such activities more effectively.
- Opportunities to network with professionals of diverse expertise throughout Rhode Island’s research ecosystem
- Showcases of EPSCoR-supported research from faculty and students, as well as programming organized by all of the EPSCoR grants in the state.
PRESENTING/EXHIBITING: We invite faculty, students and interested partners from across Rhode Island to share their research and related activities from the past year. We will have space for both poster presentations and exhibit tables. If interested, register for our event by Friday, September 25!
DIRECTIONS: Our event is being held at the Rhode Island School of Design’s ProvWash building, 20 Washington Place, Providence. (click link for Google map position). Directions to RISD.
PARKING: View RISD’s Parking and Transportation page for details on visitor parking. We encourage attendees to carpool and/or take public transit to the event. The Providence Place Mall Parking Garage is also an affordable option.

- Continued to support unique experiences of scientific inquiry through RISD’s Vis-a-Thon, the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship under leadership of Roger Williams University, the Observation in Science & Art Mentorship program at the Community College of Rhode Island, and the The Open Newsroom fellowship in partnership with URI’s Metcalf Institute.
