Co-owned by husband and wife Javier Soto and Alejandra Ruelas, Casa Azul Taquería has grown from a small 12-seat Mexican restaurant into a 45-seat Providence destination known for authentic Coyoacán flavors, warm hospitality, and award-winning margaritas. Javier brings the heart of the restaurant to life in the kitchen, while Alejandra leads the front-of-house experience and specialty tequila offerings. Together, they have created more than a restaurant — they have built a place where food, family, culture, and community come together.
Casa Azul first began working with RISBDC in 2020 while preparing to launch and has continued that relationship through its recent expansion. With support from RISBDC’s Sandra McNamara, Maggie Longo, and Yashwant Meghare, the business has navigated financial planning, construction, permitting, code compliance, and its next stage of growth. The expanded space now includes a specialty tequila bar and new opportunities for evening programming through a recently acquired entertainment license, marking another exciting chapter for this Providence success story.
