RISBDC Legal Clinic

RISBDC clients are eligible for a one-time, one-on-one, 30 minute virtual meeting with one of our participating volunteer attorneys to discuss general legal issues such as leases, contracts, insurance, employment, franchising and other business situations.  If you are not already working with an RISBDC business counselor, we suggest that prior to attending a clinic, you first register with the RISBDC here  to speak to one of our advisors.  This will enable you to gain the most benefit from your meeting with your assigned attorney.

Participating Attorneys:

Daniel J. Holmander, Esq.

Blake Johnson, Esq.

Sally P. McDonald, Esq.

Everett Petronio, Esq.

All services are provided independently by licensed, practicing attorneys on a volunteer basis, not acting as agents or representatives of the RISBDC.  By meeting with an attorney through our clinic, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the RISBDC, the participating attorney, and each of their respective agencies/firms, affiliates and representatives from any and all claims of liability arising from your session and/or the advice offered.

These no cost and confidential 30 minute sessions are offered once a month.  Please note that space is limited and prior registration is required.  In the event that our available clinic appointments are filled, we will maintain a wait list of interested parties who will be contacted if a time slot becomes available.  If nothing opens up for the current month’s schedule, the RISBDC office will contact you about scheduling for future clinics.

As a courtesy to our participating volunteer attorneys, if you cannot participate in your scheduled session for any reason, please call the RISBDC office at 401-874-7232 or email us at susandavis@uri.edu at least 48 hours in advance.

RISBDC Legal Clinic appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.  Following your registration, we will call you to confirm your appointment and the attorney will also email you a link to connect you for your remote appointment.  Please note that participation requires internet and reasonable computer/laptop access.  In the event that you are unable to make such arrangements, please advise us accordingly and we will make reasonable efforts to use alternate arrangements for a phone conference.
