The Bodhi Spa

A beloved business in Newport is taking advantage of an exciting opportunity to expand to an additional location—and the RI Small Business Development Center (RISBDC) played an important role in making it happen.

The Bodhi Spa had already built an excellent reputation among their customers, employees, and community and had been recognized by the Newport County Chamber of Commerce and the Love Awards, among others, as an outstanding business.

Recognizing the demand for quality spa services, the team at Bodhi came to the RISBDC for help putting together a loan package to open a second location. In their words, “The resources were amazing to assist with putting business projections together that helped us present our best foot forward to lenders.” And it worked. The team was able to secure an SBA loan to fund their new location—coming soon to Providence!

Now, Bodhi is poised to expand their geographic reach in the state and the region, offering a variety of services from hot mineral baths and infrared sauna to traditional massage and body treatments, and to further their mission to offer a rejuvenating health experience. From hydrotherapy to aromatherapy steams to an array of facials and body treatments, The Bodhi Spa provides its customers with a full menu of choices designed to enhance a feeling of wellness. The spa’s signature “Water Journey,” which incorporates “hot and cold water experiences designed to detoxify the body,” is very popular among its loyal clientele.

While the business has been temporarily closed as required during the COVID-19 crisis, owners Harmony and Jamie Oschefski and Cedar and Daniel Hwang have been able to access both the EIDL and PPP programs so that they can take care of their team of employees and create a safe and successful reopening plan.

Stay tuned as The Bodhi Spa prepares to welcome back existing and new customers who are in need of some pampering.
