With a geology degree in hand, Kendall Reiss started her career by taking a deep dive into the poetry of rocks. Her fascination with the endurance and splendor of the natural world formed the foundation for an artistic practice grounded in quality craftsmanship of fine jewelry. With support from the RISBDC, Reiss recently celebrated the grand opening of her studio and jewelry gallery in Bristol, Rhode Island.
Working with business counselor Dennis McCarthy and the SBDC, Reiss obtained financing through SEED Corp and Bank Five to move from a rented studio space into her own newly purchased storefront. The space serves as a quaint and inviting gallery, studio and teaching space, offering workshops for students of all ages. Gallery visitors can see what’s brewing in the studio, browse Kendall’s collection, or come take a class or workshop.
“Working with Dennis McCarthy and the SBDC was an overwhelmingly positive experience!”, said Reiss. “Dennis was instrumental in helping me formulate a clear business plan and accurate financial projections. His knowledge and expertise were integral to my success in securing lenders for the purchase of a commercial property. The SBDC is an essential resource for small businesses and entrepreneurs.”
Reiss currently also teaches Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, and continuing education classes at the Rhode Island School of Design. Born in Bristol, she is proud to be part of both its history and future as a vibrant arts-oriented destination, supporting community collaboration and art education. She offers both individual and small-group instruction in her studio space.
Congratulations on your successful grand opening, Kendall Reiss Gallery and Studio.
