Going to work every day is what most of us do. But if you love what you do, like Sharon (Raheb) DeSimone, it’s not work at all! 

With more than 12 years of experience as a tax professional, DeSimone had found her niche and was thriving in a role that allowed her to meet new clients, calm their anxiety about tax preparation, and help them get the highest refund legally possible. After developing the necessary (and extensive!) knowledge and skills to provide the best level of service, and attaining Enrolled Agent designation by the Internal Revenue Service, she felt ready to move out on her own.

DeSimone reached out to the RISBDC for support with the many pieces of the puzzle required to launch a business. Business counselor Amit Basnet helped her think strategically about location, equipment, supplies, marketing, timing, cost projection and revenue, and financing. Basnet helped DeSimone get Lincoln Tax Services of RI off the ground, including working with her on developing and implementing growth plans. About working with Basnet and the RISBDC, DeSimone said:
