TLC Coffee Roasters, a unique coffee house and specialty bean roaster located in West Kingston, was looking to increase online sales of their distinctive products. TLC already had a great recipe down: start with organic, sustainably sourced beans from small estate farms worldwide; roast impeccably using a unique on-site process that accentuates both the lighter and heavier notes of each particular bean variety.
While locals came in droves and knew they had a good thing going, owner David Turchetta wanted to get the word out to new customers, as well as inform current customers about new ways to enjoy and share their beans. He contacted the RISBDC for help advertising their product within the highly competitive RI coffee market and beyond. Business counselor Monique Giguere focused on rooting out and highlighting what makes TLC Coffee Roasters stand out from their competition.
Working with six students from the URI’s Business Marketing class, they developed a presentation focusing on TLC’s marketing opportunities, making it clear and simple for Turchetta to see which opportunities would best help TLC take their business to the next level. As a result, TLC is currently in the process of hiring a social media intern to capitalize on marketing opportunities across social media channels. “I was excited that Monique suggested a URI marketing team review,” said Turchetta. “The result will be a much improved social media presence and I am thankful for the guidance.”
As anyone who’s tried TLC’s coffee knows: the personal attention to roasting and high quality sourcing makes the best coffee around. We’re so glad the rest of the world will be able to get in on the secret!
