You might wonder why we haven’t been posting to the blog the last few days. It turns out that if you travel far enough south, you will, eventually, reach a region of earth with no satellite coverage. It also happens that as you near the edge of the internet hole, the bandwidth that you have access to also diminishes. We’ve been in and at the edge of that hole over the last few days as we traverse across the Ross Sea Shelf. The “hole” has made us realize how much we take for granted internet access and its role in our lives. No email, no google, no facebook or snapchat. We’ve all survived our internet vacation though, whether willing or not. Today we are poking north and should have some bandwidth allowing us to catch up on missed posts. Stay tuned though as we will dip south again and might lose connection with the rest of the world!
