Despite the increasing adoption of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools at the workplace, little is known about how employees view and use GenAI. We conducted a survey study of 700 US full-time employees to investigate how firms’ communication about GenAI with their employees affects employees’ GenAI-related anxiety and intentions to use GenAI at work. The results of our study revealed that firms’ internal communication about GenAI was significantly associated with employees’ perceptions of GenAI and intentions to use GenAI at work.
