MCE 301: Application of Mechanics in Design

Concepts of engineering design, material selection, and failure theories. Development of finite-element analysis for stress and deflection analysis. Application to the design of mechanical components such as shafts, bolts, welded joints, and springs. (Lec. 3/Online) Pre: CVE 220, credit or concurrent enrollment in ISE 240, and ((at least a 2.0 (C) average in PHY 203 (or 203H), MCE 262 (or 262H), CVE 220) and students must be admitted to the College of Engineering) or by permission of instructor.
