TD Nation Remembers the Black Student Leadership Group (BSLG)

Today in Black History, the Talent Development Program acknowledges the Black Student Leadership Group (BSLG).
In 1992 the BSLG took over Taft Hall during a 12 hour sit-in and created 14 Demands of the University. Some of the highlights of The Takeover consisted of a more diversified curriculum, strengthening the Office of Affirmative Action and the reconstruction of the Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC).

There were significant victories made by the efforts of the members of the BSLG. The voice of the scholars were heard, their leadership increased as did their conscientiousness, which strengthened the groups of scholars that came after them. Thank you to the members of the BSLG. All homage to each of you for your dedication and sacrifice to making necessary changes to the URI community!
