SYDNEY KEMPLER is an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha, and is currently the Vice President of Programming for the Panhellenic Council. Before becoming VP of Programming, Sydney was a Greek 101 mentor and on her sorority’s executive council and program council. Her involvement with ZTA encouraged Sydney to be active outside of Greek Life through internships and other clubs. Sydney is the Director of Communications for Student Senate where she creates newsletters and other promotional materials for Senate. Not only did Sydney purse two great internships on campus, but through her internships, with the Office of Experiential Learning and Community Engagement and University College, Sydney helped other students in gaining great opportunities. One thing Sydney has learned is to get involved and use her resources. Sydney invisons a great leader “as someone who can learn by following others.” She has learned the most about leadership from watching others lead. Being apart of Greek Life has been her favorite form of involvement and loves the sense of community. “My favorite thing about Greek Life is definitely the events,” she says. “That’s why I chose to run for VP of Programming because of the events, it’s what brings us all together. Knowing that there is a solid community of Greeks behind you that makes it so worth being apart of. Being VP of Programming, also has given me leadership experience I can use in the real world.” Although she will be graduating this year, her journey is only beginning and continues to learn something new every day. She will be taking what she’s learned from involvement experiences and putting it into practice. Sydney is ambitious and plans to move to New York City and be an event planner or possibly working in the fashion industry. Sydney is the perfect example of an on campus leader which is part of URI Greek Life’s Core Values.
