Japan’s economy is second only to that of the U.S., and the leading Japanese companies are among the largest and most well-known in the world, including names like Sony, Toshiba, Sanyo, Casio, Canon, Minolta, Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and more.

When you learn Japanese at URI, you become not only proficient in the language but also gain an insider view of the culture. Whether you’re in the field of business, engineering, manufacturing, research, economics, or politics, chances are you will come in contact with a Japanese entity. Understanding the Japanese guidelines for things like business etiquette and social interaction is critical to successfully working with these entities.
