Minoring in Philosophy
Minoring in philosophy is a great way for you to benefit from taking a variety of courses in philosophy while pursuing a degree in another discipline. Students selecting this minor must complete no less than 18 credits in philosophy. At least 12 credits of course work used to satisfy requirements for the minor must be at the 200 level or above. (Note: courses taken to satisfy the URI letters requirements may also be used to satisfy requirements for the minor in philosophy.)
To select the minor in Philosophy, just fill out the Declaration of Minor Form. Note that you don’t have to wait until you have completed six courses to declare the minor. We encourage you to declare as soon as possible; you can always complete the minor using different courses than the one you plan to take, so long as, by graduation, you have taken the 18 credits required. The dean’s office will simply substitute the courses you did take for the ones you planned to, but did not take.
