MSA Sample Program of Study
(prior accounting undergraduate degree)

The following is a sample program of study (POS) for students who enter the MSA program with an accounting undergraduate degree. All students take the graduate accounting core, but you have the opportunity to tailor the program to take into account personal career objectives, based on prior course work. For example, you may choose to take fewer graduate accounting electives and more graduate business electives than this sample program. The total number of electives is normally six courses. This POS generally requires 10 MSA program courses.

Graduate Accounting Core

  • MAC 501 Accounting Theory I
  • MAC 502 Accounting Theory II
  • MAC 503 Taxation of Business Entities
  • MAC 504 Financial Statement Analysis

Graduate Accounting Electives (students generally take 3-4 courses)

  • MAC 505 Advanced Problems (governmental & non-profit)
  • MAC 506 Seminar in Tax Research, Policy, and Planning
  • MAC 507 International Accounting
  • MAC 508 Advanced Auditing
  • MAC 511 Data Analytics for Accounting
  • MAC 515 Law and Accounting
  • MAC 518, MAC 519 Directed Study in Accounting
  • MAC 520 Internship in Accounting

Graduate Business Electives (students generally take 2-3 courses)
