cels diversity undergraduate research opportunities

The University encourages students from underrepresented backgrounds to work in the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) fields. To encourage such work during college, the URI LSAMP Program assists in matching qualified students to state-of-the-art research projects undertaken by URI faculty. These projects offer hands-on research experience, exposure to possible careers and the ability to perfect teamwork skills. Once selected for a research project, students work with the faculty member to arrange a schedule. Research projects are offered year round. Many are paid and some offer college credit.

Students are encouraged to speak with faculty members who may have research opportunities for the academic year as well as explore the research currently being conducted in the various schools/departments. The colleges of Arts & Sciences, Environment and Life Sciences and Engineering have many faculty focused on STEM research.
