Diversity and Inclusion

CELS goal is to work towards inclusive excellence. We acknowledge that this is a continuing effort that requires us to evaluate and improve our curricula, pedagogy, policies, practices and procedures. This goal also means that we must reflect on our own knowledge and skills as we continue to challenge past practices that have not lived up to our promise of equity, inclusion, and justice.

Aura Fajardo Grandidge, the interim assistant dean of diversity, recruitment and retention helps foster a sense of community throughout the college, and provides support for students, faculty and staff. She works closely with members of the CELS community who come from populations historically excluded from STEM to provide professional and educational opportunities, such as Seeds of Success, the Science and Engineering Fellowship, and URI’s Shark Camp.
