Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the URI Chinese Language Flagship Program, applicants must possess the following:

Commitment to intensive study of Chinese, including during some summer terms
Commitment to an academic year of study and professional internship in China/Taiwan
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status

Preferred qualifications

Strong academic background in a world language, indicated by demonstrated proficiency in the language, GPA, long-term commitment to the language, and involvement in extracurricular activities related to the target language and culture
Eligibility for the URI Honors Program
Demonstrated leadership and community involvement
Strong time management skills
Professional goals involving the use of the Chinese language
