Whether you’re driving, walking, or taking public transportation, we’ve got you covered. URI is located in the heart of beautiful South County, Rhode Island, and there are plenty of ways to get to campus.

Driving to Campus:
We understand that many students choose to drive to campus. If this is you, we recommend utilizing the University’s parking lots. Please note that parking permits are required for all vehicles parked on URI property. For more information on parking permits, please visit the Parking Services website.

Taking Public Transportation:
If you prefer public transportation, there are several options available to you. RIPTA provides bus service throughout the state, and several bus routes serve the URI campus. Additionally, Amtrak and the MBTA commuter rail provide train service to Kingston Station, which is located 2 miles from campus. For more information, check out the Transportation and Parking website.

Biking or Walking:
URI is a very bike and pedestrian-friendly campus. We have several bike racks located throughout campus, and our pedestrian paths are well-lit and maintained. If you’re commuting from a nearby off-campus location, biking or walking to campus can be a great way to get some exercise and reduce your carbon footprint.

On campus, there’s a shuttle service for those days when climbing the hills of our beautiful campus is asking too much—and now there’s even an app for that. More information about ridesharing and EV charging can be found on the Transportation and Parking website.

We hope you find this information helpful! If you have any questions or concerns about getting to and from campus, please do not hesitate to contact our Commuter Affairs office. Thank you for choosing URI, and we look forward to seeing you on campus soon!
