- DWELL Graduate Research Grant Recipient, MESM Grad 2023
Biography
My work has focused on creating science communication initiatives for various audiences and community engagement specifically related to coastal communities. Prior to graduate school, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. I have a wide variety of applied communications experience in environmental services for a range of organizations. Most recently as a Communications Fellow for Rhode Island Sea Grant, I worked on project implementation leading a project to evaluate stakeholder use of the MyCoast, a community coastal resilience mobile application. I also had the opportunity to plan and implement a project to update Shoreline-RI.com, a public web application promoting public access to the Rhode Island shoreline by providing information about over 400 public access sites throughout the state. I was able to visit those 400-plus public access sites throughout the summer, working to add new sites and ensure that information on each access site is as up-to-date and accurate as possible. I am currently a graduate student in the MESM program specializing in environmental communications, on track to graduate in May 2023.
