Stella Mueller

Biography

 

Stella Mueller is a recent graduate student from the University of Rhode Island, and an aspiring environmental communicator. She earned a M.S. in Environmental Science and Management with a focus in Communication this past spring, as well as a B.S. in Conservation Biology and a B.A. in Journalism from URI in 2024. 

She has been working with Dr. Jones and the DWELL lab as a Communication Assistant, working on a collaborative project with the National Park Service. Her efforts include updating and creating new informative products for locations within the National Natural Landmarks program, which is supported by the Park Service. Her products include written documents for printed materials, digital write-ups for social media use, and the creation of Augmented Reality (AR) software to use within park locations. All of the published work can be found on the URI DWELL website. 

After graduation, Stella is on the job search for a full-time position relating to environmental communication. She was awarded as the first undergraduate student to become a DWELL science communication fellow in 2023. She wrote for the University newspaper, the Good Five Cent Cigar as a staff and contributing reporter, where she gained immense experience in science journalism. Stella was an education intern for the American Littoral Society in the summer of 2024, working with all age groups to share knowledge and experiences of coastal habitats in New Jersey. She finds joy in teaching and learning from others about environmental topics or issues, and creating new relationships for people to interact with their environment. 

In her spare time, Stella loves to travel and explore, enjoys reading and practicing yoga, and being with her friends. You can view her personal website here
