At EDI, we develop tools that help election officials design and manage in-person voting sites that are efficient, accessible, and adaptable to any challenges the day may bring.

The tools featured here are publicly accessible, nonpartisan, and designed for real-world use in jurisdictions of any size.

Accessible Voting Machines Calculator

Purpose: Determine how many accessible voting machines a site needs to reduce voter wait times.

Election officials enter their voting location details and current equipment counts to forecast wait times, test how adding machines changes those waits, and find the ideal number to keep waits to a minimum.

Voting Location Resource Calculator

Purpose: Simulate the voting process across one or more locations to estimate wait times and spot potential bottlenecks.

Election officials enter their voting location details and current equipment counts to forecast wait times, then adjust resource levels to identify where adding equipment could reduce wait times.

Wait to Vote Estimator

Purpose: Estimate the minimum, average, and maximum voter wait times at a voting location.

Election officials enter location-specific details to generate wait time estimates. These details include the steps in the voting process, the available voting equipment, the number of ballot questions, and either the current number of voters waiting or a voter’s position in line.

Wait-to-Vote Manager

COMING SOON

In collaboration with the Partnership for Large Election Jurisdictions (PLEJ), we are piloting the new Wait-to-Vote Manager. With this new tool, election officials track wait times, identify locations that need additional support, and respond quickly to reduce voter delays. A public map shows current wait times and helps voters find the nearest vote center.
