Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in education (or related field) or at least 30 graduate education credits from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Students without Master’s degrees or 30-credit equivalent will be encouraged to complete a Master’s degree in Education first. Applicants must submit a resume, transcripts, an application essay, research statement, and three letters of recommendation.
A competitive applicant will have the following:
- A Master’s degree in Education from an accredited institution
- A 500 to 750-word personal statement stating your personal goals for pursuing an equity-focused and research intensive doctorate education
- A 500 to 750-word research statement that outlines your educational concerns and particular research interests and how they might align with the expertise of at least one faculty member
- A professional resume including relevant work and research experience
- Evidence of ability to successfully complete graduate level coursework, including official academic transcripts and three letters of recommendation from educators/professionals who can explicitly speak to your academic performance, research potential, work ethic, and ability to collaborate
