Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) Foundation Training
Professional Development information from theRhode Island Department of Education regarding the RIELDS foundation training.  Core courses required for the URI ECE major will cover the RIELDS-foundational training courses.

T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship
The T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Program is a unique scholarship program that empowers child care professionals to elevate their career trajectory and contribution to the field by pursuing further educational opportunities in early childhood education. The initiative also benefits sponsoring child care programs by fostering their workforce development. URI’s Early Childhood Education program is proud to be in partnership with the T.E.A.C.H. RI Program.

Experiential Learning
The ECE majors will have field experiences at the URI Child Development Centers in Kingston and Providence, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Foundational and professional ECE courses include practicum components that provide the ECE majors with high quality lab-school learning opportunities to develop their skills in working with young children (pre-K) before their student-teaching in K-2 grades.

Curriculum Materials Library
The Curriculum Materials Library collection consists of specialized resources and materials including: books, reference materials, periodicals and kits, media, maps, globes, laptops, cameras, instructional software, and more.

GEMS-Net
The Guiding Education in Math and Science Network (GEMS-Net) supports STEM teaching and learning for Kindergarten through Grade 8 through. GEMS-Net staff use highly innovative strategies to prepare pre-service elementary and middle school teachers to be leaders in STEM education.

Office of Clinical Practice and Partnerships (OCPP)
The OCPP provides support and guidance on your pathway to becoming a teacher, beginning with admission to the College of Education, and continuing beyond completion of both initial and advanced certification programs.
