We’re thrilled to invite you to Welcome Day at the College of Engineering! This is your opportunity to experience our vibrant community, connect with faculty, staff, and students, and explore the innovative programs that make our college a leader in engineering. Get ready for an inside look at what it’s like to be a Rhody Engineer – we can’t wait to meet you!

Welcome Day begins promptly at 9 a.m. with a Welcome to URI Presentation in the Ryan Center (1 Lincoln Almond Plaza, Kingston, RI 02881).

When you first arrive on campus, please go directly to the Ryan Center. We encourage you to arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand to allow plenty of time for parking and check-in. The Ryan Center will open its doors at 8:15 a.m. You do not need to register to park at the Ryan Center.

Congratulations on your acceptance! Today you’ll hear from administrators and students who are excited to welcome you to the Ram Fam, share their experiences, and help you envision your future at URI. Get ready to discover the opportunities, support, and vibrant community that await you!

Then take the Shuttle to Bus Stop #6 for a full-slate of activities at the College of Engineering!

  • Return to the Ryan Center to explore university-wide Student Life Programs

Explore your path! Meet our faculty and learn about our world-renowned International Engineering Program (IEP) and eight accredited engineering programs – Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Ocean Engineering.

TOUR OF THE ENGINEERING COMPLEX | Departing from Toray Commons in groups of 15 to 20
Discover our engineering spaces! Explore key facilities that support hands-on learning and innovation. The tour includes the 3D printing lab, employer engagement room, capstone design studio, machine shop, academic labs, and active learning classrooms. Tours depart from near the Welcome Table in the main lobby. Allow 30 minutes.

Visit our International Engineering Program (IEP) Living Learning Community located at the Heidi Kirk Duffy Center for International Engineering Education, 61 & 67 Upper College Road (next to Welcome Center) where sophomore through senior IEP students can opt to live!

Explore the Ocean Engineering program Explore the ocean engineering program on the Narragansett Bay Campus. Arrive at the Ocean Science and Exploration Center, located at 15 Pier Rd. Narragansett RI 02882, by 1:30 p.m. for a tour and lab demo. At URI, we encourage our ocean engineering students to get their feet wet with immediate hands-on field experiences and opportunities to work with faculty on research. As a leader in ocean instrumentation, robotics, underwater acoustics, marine hydrodynamics, coastal and offshore structures, offshore power generation, among other areas of expertise, the URI ocean engineering program offers its students a variety of dynamic career possibilities and the ability to contribute to the health of our planet.
