What’s included in my COA? Your cost of attendance is made up of two different types of costs:
Direct costs are items that will appear on your URI bill, such as tuition, fees, and University housing and food costs (meal plan). Off campus housing, although not on the bill, are also included.
Indirect costs will not appear on your bill but are estimated costs associated with going to college and should be included in your budget. These include items like books, transportation, and personal expenses.
Please choose the appropriate 2024-25 Cost of Attendance Table below for your determined residency. This table is to assist you in determining your overall costs to attend The University of Rhode Island.
The total costs for tuition and fees shown below do not include financial aid or scholarships. The costs for housing and food are an estimated average amount and can vary based upon housing assignment and food plan chosen.
First Year Student Housing Assumptions: Since the majority of URI’s incoming students live in on-campus housing for their first year, we have calculated first-year Cost of Attendance (COA) using the assumption that you are living on-campus.
Housing Assumptions: URI has made an assumption about your housing status because the FAFSA no longer collects data reflecting student’s housing plans. Notify Enrollment Services if they do not reflect your actual housing plan by completing the Student Housing Plans form. This assumption does not relate to housing deposits, assignments, or your actual living situation.
Living off-campus? If you are living with your parent(s), or living off-campus, your COA may be different. It is necessary for us to have accurate information regarding your housing plan. Please click on the housing status button below to let URI know if you are not living on-campus, so that we can correct our assumption, and update your COA.
