URI Health Services offers high quality instruction in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid for adults, children, and infants. The training includes:
- The American Heart Association (AHA) Chain of Survival, specifically the Basic Life Support (BLS) components
- the importance of early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- effective ventilations using a barrier device
- the importance of teams in a multi-rescuer resuscitation performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
- relief of foreign-body airway obstructions (choking) for adults and infants
Classes Offered
CPR/Basic Life Support with AED
Open to all URI students, staff, and faculty, as well as the local community

Once submitted, you will receive payment instructions. Skills Test take 20-30 minutes to complete. You must have a copy of your Online Course Completion Certificate before you schedule your skills test. HeartSaver CPR Class
For lay responders who are serving as rescuers as part of their jobs with the option of having an AED component. Examples: Police, lifeguards, firefighters, security personnel, and office workers.
