Health Services Fee

The Health Services Fee is a mandatory fee for all full-time students that gives them access to the basic services listed below, regardless of their health insurance coverage. The Health Services Fee covers:

  • Office visits with URI Health Services providers
  • Free or reduced cost over the counter medications such as ibuprofen, Tylenol, cough syrup, cough drops, cold medicine
  • Health promotion and prevention programs
  • Free Flu Clinics and Health Fairs
  • URI Emergency Medical Services (URI EMS) Ambulance—24/7/365

Injury/Sickness Insurance

Students enrolled in the school insurance plan (UnitedHealthcare StudentResources) now offer a COVID-19 Home Test Member Reimbursement benefit. Students can go to a Walmart or Rite Aid and simply show their ID card and get the tests. As this is a very fluid situation, UHCSR is working to expand the network of providers to make access to the tests even easier in the future. Also, reimbursement for tests previously purchased will be mailed to the student typically in 10-20 days assuming all requested information is complete. Click here for more details.

Health insurance coverage is required for full-time students attending the URI Kingston Campus. URI offers coverage through United Healthcare Student Resources at the rates below, which are automatically added to your initial tuition bill. If you already have comparable coverage, you may request a health insurance waiver to have the charge removed from your bill.

Please note: International plans must meet specific requirements to be considered comparable in order to waive the school sponsored insurance.
