Hepatitis B

  • Vaccination for Hep B in the US is widespread and most people now routinely get vaccinated as babies. Hep B vaccination is highly effective and because most college-aged individuals were vaccinated in childhood, it is rare to have concern for Hepatitis B infection in anyone born in the US after 1991.
  • If you are unsure if you had the Hepatitis B vaccine (typically given as a 3 dose series), check your vaccination records on your health portal.
  • If needed, testing is done by a blood test and typically resulted in 2-5 days.
