Why did you choose Kinesiology
I chose kinesiology because it allowed me to help people live a healthy lifestyle.
What has been the best part of being a part of the Department of Kinesiology at URI
I came to URI for undergrad and I loved it here! It gave me great research opportunities and had great relationships with near by hospitals that I wanted to work for. The best part of being a part of the kinesiology department is the professors you get to work with and the opportunities available to you. This department provides excellent internships to students along with many research projects students can be apart of.
What advice would you like to give to students considering the graduate program in Kinesiology
My advice would be that this is an excellent program with a lot of clinical and research opportunities. The flexibility with the program of study allows you to work, do research, and/or complete internships. The professors here take a personal interest in your success and really help you every step of the way. There is also a lot of opportunity for scholarships and assistantship so it is possible! In this day in age a masters degree in our field is so beneficial and it really opens up a lot of doors for potential jobs!
What is next for you
I have just accepted a full time position at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in Boston, MA, as a Senior Exercise Physiologist. I will be performing various types of stress testing in their cardiology department.
