Summer Programs
Summer in Calabria, Italy
This program allows students to step back into history by visiting ancient Greek and Roman ruins, touring beautiful Byzantine churches, walking the streets of medieval towns, learning to cook traditional dishes, and visiting local artisans. Along with coursework, students will experience cultural events abound, from local festivals, to traditional parties, meals and music, and lectures by prominent Italian and international scholars.

University of Calabria
The campus is based on a two-mile long bridge that overlooks the city of Rende. Often recognized for its math and sciences programs, UNICAL has one of the best math programs in the world according to the ARWU 2015 rankings.
University of Naples Parthenope
The University of Naples Parthenope is an ideal choice for students majoring in ocean, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as other disciplines such as business, marketing, computer science, biology, and law.

Perfect for Art and Art History or Textile, Marketing and Design students, the Accademia Italiana holds a fashion show every spring where students have the opportunity to meet famous Italian designers.

Students enrolled in one of our signature international programs will spend a semester studying in Italy and serve on an internship abroad. They work closely with Professor Michelangelo La Luna to gain admittance at an Italian partner institution, secure an internship placement, and prepare for their experience. Study Abroad
Students enrolled in the fourth or fifth year of URI’s IEP and IBP programs will spend their first semester abroad at the University of Calabria (UNICAL), or at the University of Naples Parthenope depending on their academic specialization.
Internship in Italy
Students spend the second half of their year abroad serving on an internship at one of 30 partnerships with Italian companies. Internship opportunities cover engineering, business, computer science, and pharmaceutical sciences disciplines. Most of the companies will pay a stipend and/or room and board.
