Curriculum

Bachelor of Arts in Italian

As an Italian major you must complete at least 30 credits (maximum 45), including at least two 400-level courses. ITL 100, 101, and 102 may not be used toward the 30 credits required for the major. Students may use up to three credits from ITL 390 or 395 toward the 30 credits required for the major.

A total of 120 credits is required for graduation. At least 42 of these must be in courses numbered 300 or above.

Dual Degree and Special Programs

The Italian International Business Program (IBP)

The Italian IBP is designed to meet the needs of business and industry in the rapidly evolving global marketplace and to prepare students for international careers. IBP students study the Italian language and culture each semester along with their business curriculum, and upon completion of this five-year-program, earn two simultaneous degrees: Bachelor of Science with their choice of business major and a Bachelor of Arts in Italian. Italian International Computer Science Program (ICSP)

The Italian International Computer Science Program is a five-year, dual-degree program. Students who complete it will earn a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. degree in Italian. The ICSP features language courses for computer scientists and engineers, a six-month paid internship with an Italian company abroad in the fourth year of the program, and the option of study abroad at one of our partner universities. Italian International Engineering Program (IEP)

The Italian IEP brings students to beautiful Italy. With its engineers focused on quality and design, Italy offers aspiring engineers training for careers focused on innovation. Included in the Italian IEP is a year abroad consisting of six months intensive language and engineering study at the University of Calabria or University of Naples Parthenope, and a six month professional internship. Italian International Pharmaceutical Sciences Program (IPSP)

The Italian International Pharmaceutical Sciences Program (IPSP) offers an unparalleled experience for students looking to become truly global pharmaceutical scientists. IPSP graduates earn two degrees simultaneously: a Bachelors in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) and a B.A. in Italian. By combining the power of a strong pharmaceutical sciences program, immersion in a foreign language and culture and a year abroad, the five-year program graduates students prepared for rewarding careers in a diverse array of fields around the world. Italian and Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design (TMD)

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science program in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design may earn a second degree in Italian (Bachelor of Arts). Students must complete the requirements for both degrees, but with careful planning, no extra semesters are required. Students who choose this double major are strongly encouraged to participate in a study abroad program and/or a professional internship in Italy.
