Description: (Lecture, 3 credits) Introduction to continuum mechanics: stress, strain and deformation, constitutive equations. theories of failure. inelastic behavior, torsion of prismatic bars, bending of beams, thick-walled cylinders, thermal effects, impact loading.

Pre-requisite: CVE 220 or MCE 301 or permission of instructor.
