Biography
Lisa began the doctoral program at the University of Rhode Island in 2009 after completing her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Education. Since then, she has been a clinical instructor in Community Health Nursing and working as a research nurse while completing her doctoral work.
Lisa gained the majority of her nursing experience while serving in the U.S. Navy in multiple clinical settings. Her research interests grew out of her last position as a public health educator. Her area of focus while in the doctoral program has been in identifying factors that influence the decision to adopt healthy lifestyles. Lisa is particularly interested in chronic disease prevention, specifically diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention utilizing a biopsychosocial perspective. She is currently examining chronic and perceived stress on the progression of pre-diabetes to type 2 diabetes in high risk individuals.
