Online Pedagogy is a 4-week, asynchronous online workshop designed to give you the background and knowledge of best-practices to enhance and hone your online teaching skills using the Brightspace platform. In just four weeks, you will learn best practices, create a course site, syllabus, course map/schedule, establish your methods of grading, and populate your grade book. You will emerge from this course with a solid start to your online course site, great ideas for remote instruction, and a certificate that designates you as a qualified online teacher!
Please note: this course is NOT self-paced. Each lesson operates with due dates for discussions and assignments, and to be successful, you must participate fully. The experience of learning as an online student is beyond useful to a good online teacher; sitting in the seat of your students will open your eyes to their experience. The expected workload is approximately 2 to 6 hours per week. This will vary based on factors such as the length of the course you are designing, your proficiency with technology (particularly Brightspace), and whether you are moving an existing course online or developing a new one.
IMPORTANT: The course requires completion of the Basic Brightspace Training prior to enrollment.
