Admission
Applications may be submitted after completing 45 credits at an accredited Postsecondary Institution with a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average. If an applicant has received an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, applicants must have earned a minimum 2.4 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), be in good standing and eligible to return to institutions previously attended. Associate degree applicants are not required to submit a high school transcript.
Students in this program are typically:
- Non-traditional, adult learners (approx. 25 years of age or older)
- Currently employed or have other responsibilities (e.g., family caretaker)
- Current or previous Military/Veteran status
- All students require flexibility and accessibility in order to successfully complete this degree program.
Application Process
- Complete the undergraduate application, and submit the $65 application fee.
- Submit official high school transcript. Please remember to consider school vacations and closures when requesting transcripts to ensure timely submission in order to meet the application materials deadline.
- Provide official electronic or official printed transcripts from all post-secondary institutions (45-credit minimum).
- Due to federal regulations, students cannot be enrolled in the BA degree completion program for Communication Studies while simultaneously enrolled in another academic program at URI.
Students Seeking Readmission to URI
Applicants who have previously registered for courses at URI as a degree-seeking student are considered a readmission and must apply using the Readmission Application. Please declare your major as Online Communications. All Materials (Application and Unofficial Transcripts) should be emailed to CASForms@uri.edu.
