State Authorization Information

The University of Rhode Island has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.

Currently, URI offers all of our programs and certificates to students who are taking their classes in the following SARA states. In addition, URI is authorized to offer our programs to students in California under their rules.

The Rhode Island Office of Post-secondary Commission can resolve concerns through their student complaint procedure.

Early Childhood Care and Education:
The program can only accept students who reside, or intend to practice*, in the following states: Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Maryland

MLIS Track School Library Media:
The program can only accept students who reside, or intend to practice*, in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ontario, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.

Nursing R.N. to B.S.
The RN-BS program does not lead to professional licensure. However, if you reside outside of the state of RI, please contact the College of Nursing prior to applying.
