Excellence in Research

kerry_laplante_webThe URI Council for Research recently recognized Associate Professor Kerry LaPlante with the 2014 Research Excellence Award in the Life Sciences, Physical Science, and Engineering. This award is a reflection of her outstanding scholarship, which makes important contributions to the intellectual community and enhances the research mission of the University.
Professor LaPlante is nationally recognized for her work in the treatment, virulence inhibition, control and prevention of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and device related infections. She has received continuous funding of more than $7.8 million for her research from agencies such as NIH and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
