Research

  • Curbside consults are presented in an informal fashion and often do not provide all details required for an optimal answer. As pharmacists are integrated into ambulatory settings, other clinicians commonly use their expertise through curbside consults that go beyond routine drug information requests.
  • Drug information questions that initially seem simple become significantly more complex when applied to patient-specific situations. Student pharmacists have limited experience in gathering the information necessary to address patient specific pharmacotherapy issues in a quick, yet comprehensive manner.
