Research

Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) is a program that strives to improve the care of patients treated with antimicrobial agents by maximizing efficacy and minimizing toxicity. It also protects the public health by promoting practices that increase likelihood of infection resolution and prevent the emergence of antibiotic resistance. By optimizing drug choice, dose, route, and duration of therapy, AMS programs aim to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and decrease emergence of antibiotic resistance.
