Masters in Science (M.S.) in Mental and Behavioral Health Counseling
Practice
The Masters of Science degree program in Mental and Behavioral Health Counseling at URI prepares students for careers in a variety of environments within the mental health field. Graduates of this program will be prepared for careers in community mental health centers, hospitals, counseling centers, rehabilitation centers, governmental organizations, and private practices. Students will gain strategic skills in the areas of crisis intervention and prevention, mental health counseling, and psychotherapy. Practicum experiences in our in-house Psychological Consultation Center (PCC) and internship opportunities in local community organizations will prepare students to be strong counselors by providing extensive training and supervision. These training experiences also provide our graduates with exposure to a variety of counseling settings and help to determine those that may best serve their future careers.
