Allumé Chocolate was created by local entrepreneurs Eric Snyder and Marissa Kervin. Their unique chocolate is made with a blend of specialty flavors, local dairy, and ethically-sourced ingredients from around the world.

While exploring how to make their products more widely available, Eric and Marissa found the RISBDC. Startup Business Counselor Susan Davis connected them with Restaurant & Hospitality Counselor Maggie Longo. Maggie helped them learn how to formulate their cost of goods and projections and fulfill food business startup requirements.

This crucial step helped Eric and Marissa set up a workspace at a local shared kitchen in town. They began making bonbons resembling vibrant gemstones, blending French and Belgian chocolate with ingredients like lychee, Sicilian hazelnuts, and Sri Lankan nutmeg. As a result, Allumé Chocolate now offers tasty and beautiful delicacies online, focusing on seasonal flavors and bright fruits.

“Maggie first helped us get our ServSafe certificate, DOH documents, and LLC filing,” Eric said. “She also guided us through vision boarding exercises, where we transformed our original business concept of meal packages to focus exclusively on chocolates and bonbons. This was key to our successful launch!”
