Fanfare, prizes, and even a “lettuce cutting” marked the 1st Year VIP Anniversary Celebration of the SaladWorks Providence location. Owners Aileen and John Pisaturo were joined by Gov. Dan McKee and other VIPs to commemorate SaladWorks’ success despite the uncertainty and challenges of opening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Using a creative business model and leveraging grants and relief programs from both the SBA and the State of Rhode Island, the Pisaturos surmounted the odds to thrive during their first year of operation.

The daylong anniversary event started with a traditional lion dance performance by the RI Kung Fu Lion Dancers to wish good luck and fortune. Gov. McKee participated in a lettuce cutting ceremony to mark the occasion, and reiterated his strong support to RI’s small businesses. A representative from Providence Mayor Elorza’s office presented a citation, and members of SaladWorks corporate recognized the client’s perseverance during the pandemic. State Director Diane Fournaris also gave short remarks to stress the RISBDC’s continued commitment to assist small businesses throughout the state.

The celebration capped off a year of success, and there is more to come: With the support of RISBDC Central Regional Director Amit Basnet and the RISBDC team, the Pisaturos are already planning to open a second location in Warwick in spring of 2022.
