Daily tick checks

The simplest way to protect yourself is to remove a tick before it has a chance to transmit disease-causing pathogens.

Ticks can attach anywhere, in particular, they will find spots like:

  • the back of your knee
  • around waistbands
  • under armpits
  • or any other constricted place
Check "below the belt" for poppy seed sized or smaller ticks while sitting on the toilet

Anytime after you have been in tick habitat you should thoroughly check your entire body and remove attached ticks immediately. Once attached, ticks do not wash off easily in the shower.

Daily Tick Check Resources

Shower Card

Daily TickCheck Cards are waterproof, and show actual- and enlarged-size blacklegged ticks in full color, as well as the other common human biting ticks and the most common biting areas to check every time you bathe or even just take your clothes off. Each card also comes with its own lanyard to make hanging the card easier.

Toilet Check Card

Daily TickCheck Toilet Check Cards are designed to be placed right above toilet paper dispensers in public bathrooms. Like Daily TickCheck Cards, these cards show actual- and enlarged-size blacklegged ticks in full color, as well as the other common human biting ticks. Ticks tend to bite humans in areas below the belt, most easily discovered while sitting on the toilet.
