The UCAS Professional Development Committee (UPDC) champions an equitable and collaborative work environment by developing result-oriented activities directed towards enhancing core values that reflect justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Our Commitment

University College for Academic Success (UCAS) is committed to promoting a warm and inclusive learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to honoring of humanity by promoting sound judgment and respect for the perspectives of others in our system.

In University College we

  • Advance collaborations, and partnerships geared towards promoting inclusive excellence and student-success initiatives.
  • Promote staff development for student-centered advising, academic support, and career guidance.
  • Support and improve inclusive learning.
  • Address challenges facing underrepresented student populations within the UCAS policy framework.
  • Working to end discriminatory behaviors and improve staff collaboration for a better student-support outcome.

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, in UCAS, is a culture through which we offer students and staff supportive college experience- one that broadens perspectives, develops skills, and challenges people to mature in interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. Through our Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives, we resolve to foster appreciation of our collective humanity by cultivating mutual respect and embracing our identity differences.  

Report of Discrimination

Contact the URI Bias Response Team.  This group gathers information about bias incidents and supports those who have witnessed, or are the target of, an act of bias.  Their support includes informal advocacy, advice, and referral.


In the case of an emergency, regardless of suspected involvement of bias, call 911.
