Visit our New Rams Website

Welcome to the University of Rhode Island. We thank you for your interest and invite you to learn more about our innovative programs, distinguished faculty, and the welcoming community we call home. At our beautiful campus just minutes from the ocean, you’ll find a world of possibilities. We think big at URI—and we encourage our students to do the same.

Congratulations to our newly accepted students!

FAFSA Progress and Admission Update
We understand that this year’s college admission process has included significant challenges due to ongoing issues with the implementation of the new FAFSA, which is overseen by the U.S. Department of Education. At URI, we’re committed to assisting and supporting your decision-making process. If you require more time to make your decision, please feel free to take it; there will be no penalties.

We urge you to submit a deposit promptly to kickstart your experience with our excellent orientation and onboarding program: Rhode To Becoming A Ram. At this time, we are encouraging those who would like to attend URI this fall to pay their deposits as soon as possible. For first-year students wishing to reside on campus, on-campus housing is still available on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the Regular Decision deadline has passed, URI is presently accepting applications for all majors except nursing on a space-available basis. Prospective students interested in joining URI are urged to promptly submit their Common Application or URI Transfer Application.

Inclusion, Equity, and Justice
The University of Rhode Island Office of Admission desires to engage students from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. When considering applications to URI, we seek students who will contribute positively to the campus community and beyond, and who will embrace the URI foundational values. The members of the Office of Admission are committed to embracing diversity and fostering inclusion, equity, and justice. We encourage dialogue which will further the knowledge and understanding of difference and societal norms. We will continue to collaborate with our campus partners and educate ourselves as we challenge the norms and practices which contribute to the suffering of others.

Land Acknowledgment
The University of Rhode Island occupies the traditional stomping ground of the Narragansett Nation and the Niantic People. We honor and respect the enduring and continuing relationship between the Indigenous people and this land by teaching and learning more about their history and present-day communities, and by becoming stewards of the land we, too, inhabit.
