URI Narragansett Undergraduate Scholarship

The URI Narragansett undergraduate scholarship provides full, in-state tuition and fees for up to four years to students of Narragansett ancestry who have been accepted to a URI undergraduate program. It also includes an additional grant of up to $5,000 based on full-time, undergraduate enrollment. See eligibility criteria for details.

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to being accepted into an undergraduate degree program*+, students must have:

  • An official FAFSA on file and all verification requirements completed (the FAFSA must be completed annually during the students URI career to maintain their scholarship).
  • A tribal enrollment identification card or an official letter from the tribal administration that confirms membership through a direct family member (parents).

Additional Information

  • This award is in place of the $1,000 per year URI Indian scholarship grant. Students can still receive grants from the Rhode Island Indian Council.
  • Funding is available for up to 4 years, with consideration for additional undergraduate degree support upon review of the student’s academic record.
  • Recipients must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress SAP) standards toward completion of degree requirements to continue to be eligible for the scholarship and supplemental support grant.

*For programs with special undergraduate program fees and charges, awards may be changed at the discretion of the University. The tuition scholarship amount is reduced by merit awards, the Hardge grant, and tuition waivers.

+ All awards will be reduced/pro-rated (including $5,000 award) if a student is enrolled part-time.
