Early Admission at URI

The URI Early Admission program allows high-performing students to leave high school early and complete their senior year as fully matriculated, full-time college students.

Benefits
For responsible students who are laser focused on their career paths, Early Admission can help save both time and tuition costs!

Expectations

Students considered for Early Admission are expected to present a strong scholastic record, give evidence of social and intellectual maturity, and demonstrate that they would benefit more from beginning collegiate studies than from completing a standard high school curriculum.

Requirements

To be considered for Early Admission, you must fulfill the following criteria:

1.) Strong Scholastic Record: You must present an exceptional academic history to prove you are prepared for immediate, full-time college rigor.
2.) Maturity: You must provide evidence of both social and intellectual maturity.
3.) Institutional Benefit: You must show that you would benefit more from starting collegiate studies immediately than from completing a standard high school senior year curriculum.
4.) Official Recommendation: Early admission is granted only with the explicit recommendation of your high school.
5.) Parental Permission: If you are a minor, you must have official permission from your parent or guardian.

How to Apply

High school applicants must complete their Common Application by March 1.

If accepted into the program, the student should complete the next steps in their admission portal, including accepting their admission and submitting their enrollment deposit by May 1.

If you have questions, reach out to the URI Admission Counselor who is assigned to your state or your specific Rhode Island high school.
