Tuition

At the University of Rhode Island, we understand that in order to make a fully-informed decision about where to attend college, you need to learn as much about financing your education as you do about the opportunities our university offers.

Please Note: Due to lengthy federal system delays, we have waived our 2024 FAFSA deadline and encourage applicants to submit the FAFSA as soon as they are able.

FAFSA Progress Update
URI has started to receive FAFSA data from the U.S. Department of Education and we are working hard to prepare financial aid awards. To assist first-year admitted students (Fall 2024 entry) in their decision process, URI will be extending its deposit deadline to May 15, 2024.

Financial Aid

Please note that although the 2024-25 Federal Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) became available on 12/31/2023, there are lengthy federal system outages and delays. The Financial Aid Office will not receive any student FAFSA data until mid-March. We encourage students to file the FAFSA as soon as they are able, but we understand that some students are unable to do so because of a variety of factors.

Reminder: New students and parents will need to create an FSA ID before they can access the FAFSA. The site to create the FSA ID is also experiencing outages and lengthy delays. After the FSA ID is created, it may take up to three days before it can be used.

Early Action applicants will receive decisions or updates on their applications by the end of January. Those who apply between December 1 and February 1 will receive their decisions by the end of March. Merit scholarship notification is included in the acceptance letter, and financial aid awards will be released in the spring via the applicant portal.

Visit Enrollment Services and learn more about financial aid and definitions of the terminology you will encounter during the application process.
