Part Time M.B.A.

Curriculum

The Part Time M.B.A. Program consists of 14 three-credit courses for a total of 42 credits. Depending upon your undergraduate coursework, the dates you completed your courses, and the grades you received, you may waive courses for a minimum of 36 credits.

  • MBA 500: Statistical Methods for Management
  • MBA 502: Organizational Behavior
  • MBA 503: Financial Accounting
  • MBA 504: Financial Management
  • MBA 505: Managerial Marketing
  • MBA 560: Operations & Supply Chain Management
  • MBA 565: Strategic Management

Electives (18 credits/6 courses)

Two of the six elective courses must be M.B.A. designated courses. The remaining four elective courses can be any URI graduate level courses allowing you to earn a graduate certificate. You are even allowed to take two 400 level pre-approved URI courses for graduate elective credit.

MBA Course Waiver Exams

The Part Time MBA program is designed to meet the needs of incoming students with various academic and professional experiences.                                                  

  • ECN 590 and MBA 500 may be waived for students with applicable coursework. You must have completed two undergraduate courses (minimum grade B in each class) taken within five years of when you matriculate.
  • MBA 502, MBA503 and MBA505 may be waived if that was your major as an undergraduate, and have graduated within 5 years from when you matriculate.
  • Waiver exams for MBA 500, MBA 504, and MBA 505 are available for students who do not meet the above requirements.

Part Time M.B.A. classes meet one night per week at URI’s Providence Campus, RI Nursing Education Center at 350 Eddy Street or online, Mon.-Thurs., 6-8:45 p.m., 6:30–9:15 p.m., or 7-9:45 p.m. Courses are periodically available in Kingston, as are some intensive weekend electives, Saturday courses. Classes are offered fall semester (Sept.-Dec.), spring semester (Jan.-May), and in two summer sessions (May-June and June-July) in which classes meet twice a week for five weeks from 6-9:45 p.m.

If you have not yet applied to the program and wish to begin studies right away, you may take up to 9 credits before becoming a matriculated student.*Learn More

*Courses are limited to the following 500-level courses: MBA 500, MBA 502, and ECN 590. (In special cases, MBA 503, MBA 505 and MBA 530 are opened up to those who will waive out of these 500-level courses.) To register, complete an online Non-Degree Student Application Form. Once URI enters you into the system, you are eligible to register for these courses online through the e-Campus system. Taking these courses does not guarantee acceptance into the M.B.A. program.
