New Graduate Certificate in Econometrics and Data Analysis

An increasing range of career trajectories depend on mastering advanced techniques with complex data analysis, and URI’s College of Environment and Life Sciences has launched a program designed to boost job market competitiveness by developing these skills in a flexible environment.

The new graduate certificate in Econometrics and Data Analysis offers students and professionals the opportunity to sharpen their expertise with econometrics, data processing, database management, and coding skills. Through this three-course, 12-credit program, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of statistical and machine learning methods and learn how to apply them to real-world problems. Graduates will be able to apply advanced econometrics and machine learning methods to economic and financial problems with a wide range of applications to fields such as public policy, economic development, environmental and natural resource management, agriculture, energy, political science, and more.

The only certificate of its kind in the New England area, this program is designed to appeal to working professionals’ schedules. Enrolled students can choose to complete courses fully online or in face-face-classes. Those pursuing the online option can work asynchronously without suffering from lack of support. Among other resources, there will be live virtual office hours they can choose to attend. Whether online or in-person, courses will be taught by expert faculty in the Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at URI who are acclaimed for their pioneering academic research and contributions to the formulation of major regional, national, and international policies.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required for admission. Please visit our website or contact the Graduate Program Director (enre_grad@etal.uri.edu) for more information and to apply by August 15, 2024.
